Autism in Ocala:   We wish to open an Autism center here in Ocala Florida.  As previous board members of Ocala Autism Support Network, we were able to see first hand what families who have children on the Autism Spectrum needed and were missing.  In an effort to be able to provide these services, therapies and assistive devices, KidGenius was born.

This donation will alow us to purchase river stones.  Stepping stones to better coordination, balance, and fun. The Riverstones are inspired by stepping stones in a river with each side of the triangle varying in steepness and difficulty. The purpose is to jump from stone to stone without touching the floor -  the position of the stonescan be varied to create more challenging paths for advanced children. Each stone has rubber studs on the base which prevent them from slipping, and also protect indoor floor areas. Builds children’s confidence when jumping, judging distances, coordinating and balancing. Set of 6 riverstones

This donation will allow us to purchase rock climbing pegs that can be used inside our playrom. "Kids acquire all kinds of positive skills. Because climbing requires a combination of creative thinking and physical output, less athletic kids often shine, surprising even themselves. Kids also learn problem solving. Climbing is a puzzle to unlock, sometimes requiring the ability to back off, look at the route anew, and start again, says Bobby Ferrari, owner of High Xposure Adventures in New Paltz, New York. Additionally, kids learn to focus, concentrate and persevere, essential for getting to the top. Along the way, they gain confidence, competence, strength and body awareness.

This donation will allow us to purchase a foam balance beam.  This foam balance beam can be used with the flat side down or the flat side up, offering endless opportunities for exercise and play. When possible, use the balance beam without shoes for extra feedback to the feet and joints. On a single balance board put one foot in front of the other to practice balance. When you're comfortable with position, make it more difficult by squatting in the same position. Alternatively, place the round side down and lay with your spine along the balance beam. Raise one leg off the ground while continuing to maintain balance.

This donation will allow us to purchase scooter boards.  Ideal for play and strengthening exercises, the scooter is so much fun, most children won’t even realize they’re actually building core muscle groups while they’re playing.  These scooter will help our lil heroes work on coordination, motor skills, and balance, while they’re racing, pushing, and gliding.
